Walking Tour


Explore the history and the landmarks of this bustling creole town! Visit the landmarks of the center: The Saint-Louis Cathedral, La Savane – park, The Schoelcher library, The old courthouse, the central market, the old townhall, the statue of Joséphine de Beauharnais. . . and of course get lots of background information about Martinique’s history and culture, the town and the different monuments!

Tour can also be personalized to include for example some shopping or a bakery stop etc.

PLEASE NOTE: Tour better to be done in the morning/early afternoon as many monuments and the central market close quite early. On Mondays the Schoelcher library is closed. The cathedral closes at 11.30 am, the central market at 3 pm. On Sundays several monuments are closed.​ We recommend wearing comfortable shoes, light clothing, a hat and sunscreen.

Tour includes: guiding and a juice tasting (sugarcane juice/fruit juice)

Duration: 1,5 – 2 hours

Meet up and end location: Cruise ship terminal or center of Fort-de-France (exact location TBD upon booking)

Price : 20 €/25$ per person for a group of min. 5 persons, 15€/18$ per person for 10 and more persons. Children under 6 yrs free of charge!

Taste of Fort-de-France

What better way to get to know a new culture than indulging on its culinary specialties? Join our approximately 3 hour guided walking and tasting tour in central Fort-de-France to get to know this bustling creole capital with a French twist. We walk in a relaxed pace discovering the historical landmarks of the town and visit several food tasting locations –carefully selected to give you the highlights of what the cuisine in Fort-de-France has to offer. All of the places visited are locally owned, popular spots. You’ll get to taste salty and sweet treats including traditional sweets, our excellent rums and a creole dish. The tour also stops at the central fruit and vegetable market. 

We will also discover many cultural sites and architectural gems such as the Schoelcher library, Saint-Louis cathedral, the old townhall… Our food tour accommodates up to 8 persons so that you are sure to get a personal, comfortable experience. You will walk away with the best advice of what to eat, see, and do throughout the course of your stay and learn a ton about Martinique’s history and culture!

Please note: There’s a fair amount of walking involved in this tour and as it’s done around midday, it does get quite hot. Please wear good walking shoes, a hat and have a water bottle with you. Sitting down tasting will not always be possible in all locations.

Tour details

When: from Tuesday to Friday starting at 11 or 11.30  AM. We tour rain or shine so dress accordingly (ponchos can be provided). Comfortable shoes and light clothing recommended.

Duration: approximately 3 hours depending in pace

Meeting Point: Down-town Fort-de-France, exact location provided upon booking. Your guide can also meet you at the cruise ship terminal.

Cost: 65€/78$ per person including all taxes, children from 3 to 12 are welcome and will receive the same tastings. Kids under 3 for free but no tastings included. NOTE: Minimum 4 persons required per tour

Language: English, French or Finnish
